GSAE STRATEGIC PLAN 2014-2016
“connecting leaders, advancing associations”

OUR FOCUS: Creating meaningful and diverse opportunities that allow members to connect with each other.

1. EXPANDING YOUR NETWORK

A. Build more dynamic, personalized member profiles
        A1  Searchable profiles based on keywords
        A2 Professional skills and specialties added
        A3 Social media accounts included in member profiles and directory
        
B.  Imposed Interaction
      B1 Encourage carpools for members
B2 Offer a “remote working day” for people to get together and work more collaboratively 

 

2. BUILDING NEW SKILLS

A. Events Promotion & Gamification
      A1 Incorporate social media into various events
        A2 Reward members who talk positively about GSAE on social media
        A3 Our most highly skilled, most engaged  members can “level up” online
        A4 Host “Millennial Take-Over Events” 
        A5 Host at least one social event
        A6 Explore implementing multiple event registrations or offering redeemable points for signing up
       
B. Content Delivery
      B1 Deliver more individualized content to members based on their interests and needs (webinar)
B2 Explore the “content food truck” idea (i.e., bringing a pop-up learning opportunity to members
        B3 Create educational experiences that are entertaining as well – embrace the idea of “edu-tainment”
       
C. Video Production for Marketing and Learning
      C1 Amplify GSAEtv. Other videos should feature concise, humorous and engaging talks
        C2 Explore and implement a video learning management system through GSAEtv or webinar platform
C4 Conference keynotes or other high profile speakers will tape an Ignite style or TED.com style talk to provide to members after the event as a way to share and/or extend the learning experience
       
D. Tradeshow
        D1 Examine ways to make the tradeshow more of a community experience
        D2 Explore speed dating, appointment and reverse tradeshow formats
       
E. Annual Meeting
E1 Add sponsor information to the annual meeting app and explore pushing information (maybe coupons or discounts) to attendees so stakeholders can instantly connect with each other
        E2 Add maps with points of interest to the app and website

 

3. SOLVING TODAY’S PROBLEMS

A. Create an “expertise exchange”
     Establish a virtual system where members can swap/barter ideas/consulting/speaking engagements 
       with other members
       
B. Online Portal
Create a  more easily accessible, searchable platform online to facilitate the exchange of documents, videos and effective practices
       
C. Apps & Mobilized Website
        C1 Push short bursts of information to members like a “daily association hint”
        C2 Renew dues and register for events on the app or via a mobilized website

 

4. LEARNING BY LEADING

A. Appoint Governance Task Force
A1 Evaluate all committees within the governance structure with an eye to converting some to task forces, ensuring committees that are operational have a clear and well-defined mission
A2 Find ways within the governance structure to create more opportunities for short-term, episodic engagement in order to create and sustain an ongoing talent pool of members
        A3 Investigate open sharing platforms like Github, etc., to begin practicing open source techniques
       
B. GSAE 101 Ideas
       B1 Instead of a true GSAE 101, task the Professional Development Committee with putting on 2 discussion
       groups each year.  These discussion groups would be topic-specific, led by GSAE members: “what are the  
       gaps in our current educational offerings?”

       B2 New Member Orientation on GSAEtv

       B3 Explore ways for GSAE members to tape and offer webinars free of charge

 

5. ADVANCING YOUR CAREER

A. Leadership Academy
        A1 Raise number of participants to 20
        A2 Consider licensing for use by other groups
        A3 Explore sustainability options
        A4 Develop a sponsor program for the academy
       
B. CAE Study Group
        Examine ways to implement video learning management system
