About the speaker


J. “Tripp” Mitchell’s career in public law enforcement, security consulting and investigation spans many years. He is a licensed security practitioner and CEO of Guardstar, a security management firm that also consults trains and advises organizations on how to protect their enterprise from threats and help them stay safe and secure. 


He has owned and operated an investigative agency as a licensed private detective for over 20 years. His background includes years as a police officer, detective, and criminal investigator with the State Court Prosecutor’s Office and eventually retiring as Chief Investigator. Morning Workshop, 10-11:30 am: Security Issues for Executives

This workshop will engage participants to understand the dynamic security issues faced by executives. It discusses the importance of preparing and responding to a threat and hostile event. By recognizing the precipitating factors that may lead to security problems, staff and leaders can be more prepared to respond swiftly and appropriately. 


Keynote: "Save your 6, Responding to Active Threats"        

This session introduces the participant to strategies to survive an emergency during a security event. The participant will gain a better understanding of the survival mindset, the factors that reduce casualties in targeted violence events, appropriate threat responses, and maintaining business continuity. Attendees will learn key takeaways on realistic approaches to making sure they stay safe and secure, and their business environment stable.

Sip, Shop and Stroll Event for Association Executives - 1:30 pm;  separate registration is required

Cancellation Policy

Your cancellation request must have been made in writing and received by GSAE at least 4 working days prior to date (Friday, February 16 ) of event via fax (404) 577-7870 or e-mail (  Replacement registrants are welcome.  Refunds will only be given in cases where the above guidelines are followed.  If you do not attend the luncheon and do not cancel your registration or submit a replacement, you will be billed after the meeting.


GSAE is a CAE Approved Provider 

The program(s) meet the requirements for fulfilling the professional development requirements to earn or maintain the Certified Association Executive credential.  Every program that we offer which qualifies for CAE credit will clearly identify the number of CAE credits granted for full participation, and we will maintain records of your participation in accord with CAE policies.  For more information about the CAE credential or Approved Provider program, please visit As a CAE Approved Provider educational program related to the CAE exam content outline, this luncheon program may be applied for 1 credit toward your CAE application or renewal of professional development requirements.


Note: This program is not endorsed, accredited, or affiliated with ASAE or the CAE program.  Applicants may use any program that meets eligibility requirements in the specific timeframe towards the exam application or renewal.  There are no specific individual courses required as part of the applications – selection of eligible education is up to the applicant based on his/her needs.
